Hi Sally, Always a pleasure to reply. 11) My conlang's name is Draseleq (accute indicates stress). It comes from the ancient root NARAS- "cross" with some personal suffixes, roughly "the language of the ones who crossed". 12) Not unique perhaps, but... * Nouns with no gender, compulsory indication of number. Five cases: nominative (no markers), accusative, genitive, locative, comparative. Four numbers: singular, "unique" singular, plural, and grupal/general plural. The grupal plural refers to (i) natural groups like fingers, hands, etc., (ii) tightly-bound groups like "the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost", or "the Two Trees". * Prepositions and preposed particles. No postpositions. No case is governed by a preposition, though there might be combinations. * Verbs inflected for tense, person and number. Also can be added prefixes and infixes to indicate aspect (static, progressive, perpetual, repetitive, duplicative), degree of deference (master to subordinate, informal, etc.), intensification, decreasing force, maximization, minimization, etc. The verbs have an infinitive marked by a fixed ending out of a closed set, and several active and passive participles. * Adjectives: they are verbs like any others; you use the participles for adjectival uses. * Relative clauses: the original pronoun (or the pronoun corresponding to the noun phrase in question) is inflected to show relativization, and stays in place. (Some special nouns might relativize in formal or poetic use.) * Word order: V-S-O or dirO-V-S-indirO. Modifiers precede heads, except for subordinate clauses. * General sound: consonantal, "septentrional" or "Germanic", tho not based on any natlang. Most words end in a consonant; words ending in vowels are mostly particles. No unusual sounds except /q/ and its voiced counterpart. * Cons: inconsistent phonological system, too much use of compounds for simple concepts. * Pros: generally well-sounding and still brief, easy fluency, no farfetched ideas. * Context: a developed conculture, sister and daughter languages in sketch, a consistent collection of protolanguage roots and derivation rules, allowing for easy extension. * Translation projects: "The Hobbit", the book of Ecclesiastes, the Babel text (finished), the Lament of Galadriel in Lorien (finished), some conculture texts. 13) My website is at <http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Shire/1021/>. There you can find a Language Creation page (at <language.html>), and the Draseleq pages at <draseleq.html>). These include Phonology, Grammar, Corpus and Lists of Useful Things (calendar, numbers, etc.)

It bothers me a bit that my language has a speaker of one, just because there's no-one to talk to. But I certainly like to have absolute control of the things I start and put my efforts on... I mean, I like getting new ideas, but not so many as to make my conlang a stranger to myself. If many people spoke Draseleq, they'd certainly change it. But I wouldn't resent that -- what I wouldn't like would be if some uptight grammarian began creating his own prescriptive rules for it and impose them on speakers. I'm the only one who can tell you how to speak Draseleq! :) --Pablo Flores <http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Shire/1021/draseleq.html> A Elbereth Diniasnuthon, A Elbereth Star-Kindler terrpalu^n gasainerg brafthalai glittering like jewels it slants lif nain diniasstes enthain! from the sky the glory of stars Na taneftulm nef sinailu^n To faraway lands far having looked lif mas-miathtentan frungnulmadh, from tree-woven middle lands gradn navanat, Eltamalis, to thee I will sing, Everwhite rinul rros, faik rinul tarros! in this side of the sea, here [ in this side of the ocean begin 600 WINMAIL.DAT M>)\^(A41`0:0" `$```````!``$``0>0!@`(````Y 0```````#H``$-@ 0` M`@````(``@`!!) &`#P!```!````# ````,``# #````"P`/#@`````"`?\/ M`0```%(`````````@2L?I+ZC$!F=;@#=`0]4`@````!#;VYS=')U8W1E9"!, M86YG=6%G97,@3&ES= !33510`$-/3DQ!3D= 0E)/5TY632Y"4D]73BY%1%4` M```>``(P`0````4```!33510`````!X``S !````&@```$-/3DQ!3D= 0E)/ M5TY632Y"4D]73BY%1%4````#`!4,`0````,`_@\&````'@`!, $````=```` M)T-O;G-T<G5C=&5D($QA;F=U86=E<R!,:7-T)P`````"`0LP`0```!\```!3 M3510.D-/3DQ!3D= 0E)/5TY632Y"4D]73BY%1%4```,``#D`````"P! .@$` M```"`?8/`0````0````````#DSD!"( '`!@```!)4$TN36EC<F]S;V9T($UA M:6PN3F]T90`Q" $$@ $`1@```%)%.B!Y;W5R(&-O;FQA;F<L('!L96%S93\@ M*%)I8V@@075N="!G971S(&AO;&0@;V8@=&AE($QU;F%T:6,@4W5R=F5Y*0`$ M& $%@ ,`#@```,X'"@`!``X`%0`B``0`*0$!(( #``X```#.!PH``0`.`!4` M& `$`!\!`0F `0`A````-C(P.$1&,30S-S4Y1#(Q,3E#,CDT-#0U-3,U-# P M,# `N 8!`Y &`"P0```2````"P`C```````#`"8```````L`*0```````P`V M``````! `#D`8*4T\%_MO0$>`' ``0```$8```!213H@>6]U<B!C;VYL86YG M+"!P;&5A<V4_("A2:6-H($%U;G0@9V5T<R!H;VQD(&]F('1H92!,=6YA=&EC M(%-U<G9E>2D````"`7$``0```!8````!O>U?\#04WPAC63<1TIPI1$535 `` M```>`!X,`0````4```!33510`````!X`'PP!````&P```&9F;&]R97- =&%U M+G=A;6%N:2YA<&,N;W)G```#``80?3YYHP,`!Q#&#P``'@`($ $```!E```` M4T%,3%E#059%4U=23U1%.D%.1$A/5U=/54Q$64]50TA!4D%#5$5225I%251) M3D9)1E195T]21%--3U)%3U),15-3/UE/559%0D5%3D]615)72$5,34E.1TU% M5TE42%=/3D1%4@`````"`0D0`0```'L.``!W#@``@1P``$Q:1G5S)!=1_P`* M`0\"%0*D`^0%ZP*#`% 3`U0"`&-H"L!S971N,@8`!L,"@S($1@(`<'!R<3$@ M"%4'L@* ?7\*@ C/"=D"@ J!#;$+8&Y@9S$P,S0*^Q+Q<^PQ.
