Freaky. Completely independently of these Norwescon panels, I was thinking
of making my "Elvish" counterpart of Noygwexaal "Orcish" be a vaguely
insectile-sounding language, and giving the elves of that world a hive-
based structure.
Currently it's in the early stages of development; I'm generating a fairly
interesting phonology with lots of syllabic fricatives and affricates, as
well as clicks and a limited number of vowel sounds.
I don't have enough to post yet, though; I'm being hindered by the fact
that I want to make it partly danced, and I'm struggling over exactly how.
A reasonable starting compromise, I guess, would be a cut-down "Static
Elvish" cant, without the gesticulation and movements, for use in battle
and/or other situations requiring both speech and movements with both hands.
Obviously, in that world, humans have quite a bit more in common with orcs
than with elves, at least linguistically speaking.
