There is no doubt -- Slavonic; cf. Polish _Niemcy_ 'Germany', _Niemiec_
'German (n.)', _niemiecki_ 'German (adj.)'.
In colloquial Romanian is _neamt,_ 'German' of Slavonic origin too (but
officially _german_).
