Hi Paul,
Many N. American aboriginal languges are named in a similar fashion as in
Dene which simply means (the) people. My very first conlang, Kadingu took
its name from "the tongue". I appreciate your suggestion. See my related

What is your conlang's word for language or speech? What do its speakers
call themselves?
As most natlangs have it, 'our speech'. or 'tongue of our tribe' or 'true
speech'.
Barbarians (foreigners) speak 'barbar' instead of our civilized tongue.
