My brother, who is gay but more like Will (from Will & Grace) kind, refers
to the really effeminate gay folk (like Jack from the same show) as
"queens".  And then there's that other Q-word.

By the way, the Techians, who aren't homophobic but don't mind using a slang
term or two, need a word for "gay, homosexual male". I tried to find the
Arabic word for "gay" (the more traditional meaning) and came up with about
a hundred synonyms, so I tried French, and got the same. One of them was
Adonis. I was thinking the Tech slang term for a gay (in a cute way, not
really pejorative -- Techians are the most tolerant of people) could be
|?adonis|, or Techified, |?adoni| [?@do:n']. (That could also be a term for
a really pretty guy, also known as a "pretty boy", "preppy" etc., or someone
who's very narcissistic.)

The feminine counterpart of course would be |lesbiyah|.
