Heya,
when i went into school today to pick up my diploma, i stayed around to
talk to a certain teacher. while i was waiting for him, i wandered into
a classroom and noticed the seat where i had sat on the first day of
highschool, four years ago. it wasn't the first period, though, it was
period 3.
so i wrote this on the blackboard:
POUP I ZOUZ
Nilhao nyeng elikuh-tzed uzoi-tep,
Nilhao nyeng ii-iltao sudmet -
Nga'gaur ta'khavya-a umzo`i`
I la'lesna-a sa'droitz.
Natao azii'nyih-shek esh.
Niltao sha'esh.
PLACE AND PERSON
Nothing ever truly ends,
Nothing ever is dead forever -
Because in the heart they are
and on the tongue, in reality.
I will never forget you.
Never ever you.
interlinear:
N,ILHAO NYENG ELIKUH-TZED UZOI-TEP
(negative)everything no (adverb)-truth it(routine)-end
N,ILHAO NYENG II-ILTAO SUD,MET
(negative)everything no (future)-always (adj)death
NGA'GAUR TA'KHAVYA-A UMZO`I`
because in'heart-the they-neuter(routine)
I LA'LESNA-A SA'DROITZ
and on'tongue-the with'reality
NATAO AZII'NYIH-SHEK ESH
never i(future)'not-forget you(nonsubject)
N,ILTAO SHA'ESH
(negative)always (object)'you(nonsubject)
_nilhao_ and _niltao_ are more general than the normal forms _nahao_ and
_natao_, since they are negatives of _ilhao_ "everything" and _iltao_
"always", to mean "nothing at all" and "never at all".
_nga'gaur_ is a prepositional compound, _nga'_ "from" and _ga'_, the
relational particle (i think that's what it's called), "that/which".
the `s in _umzo`i`_ represent rising (acute?) accents over the _oi_.
_umzo`i`_ is a verbless subject-tense complex, in this case signifying
"to be located at".
_sa'droitz_ uses the preposition _sa'_ "with" instead of the adverb
prefix _elikuh-_, to give it a more physical feeling - the memories
*have* reality, they aren't just there "really".
the repetition of negatives such as _natao...'nyih-..._ strengthen the
force of the negation.
the 'all-encompassing' _niltao_ and redundant _sha'esh_ in the last line
strengthen and emphasize the _natao_ and _esh_ of the previous line.
(and therefore the previous line's entire thought).
