And I grew up in the Republic of Fredonia. Oops -- I meant Nacogdoches,
Texas. (That was an interesting chapter of Texas history, when Hayden
Edwards led a group of Anglo Protestant slave-owners to secede internally
from Mexico, which of course was Catholic and abolitionist...)
