I took the phrase right off the website. Sadly the graphic is a bit blurry
(even on my 19" monitor at work) and I can't see if it is an umlaut or an
accute accent over the second "o". I have been told that I have very little
accent if any when I speak German (my teacher was from Germany) I suspect
that the person (people) who taught you have a great effect. My French
teacher was a native Detroiter. When I listen to Canadian French on the TV I
can barely understand anything.

Very true. Swedes normally hear [@] as any of [2 9 8 3\] depending on which
of those occurs in their dialect, and English [u:] is often heard as that
freak Swedish /8:/ [8_+_w], especially in /ju:/.
