>>This got me wondering about how we all approach the specific creation of
words in conlangs, and how closely we try to relate them (or not!) to
natlangs. Obviously, for languages like Wenedyk and others the
similarities are conscious. But for others, like Orêlynna (my current
conlang), I wonder how consciously we try to *avoid* any forms that
resemble natlangs.<<
I haven't done a whole lot of conscious borrowing, though I'm sure there
are some similarities. About the only conscious borrowing I've done was a
half-assed attempt to give countries names similiar to what people living
in them call it. Though, I'm positive I'm not close on most of the
pronunciations, as I guessed mainly on what it looked like to me, and
that's definitely not accurate. Other than that, I haven't taken many
words from natlangs, though I think I'd like to. I've taken some words
from a couple of my dead conlangs (conlangs I never really got too far
on).
