Maybe I'm stupid, but I like the SAMPA characters much better than
the IPA ones because they are more different from each other, which
is a big advantage for any coding system I think. When you reed
phonology book you need to know IPA of course, but I think it's kind
of a relief when I read net-based forums using a SAMPA system, where
I don't need to look up the IPA table all the time.
