Omeina:
Ome anolde da, dirun olmoa romen na
"Aligora ilda dilde, menko astuan malimedunaro"
O omede na "Menku sindunaro, o arinku orire oria maraitoin.
Eleta ilda na, o astuita malin on na."
1st line comments:
speak / man-dative / I, watch-rel / gates-locative year-genitive / is
diru = to watch over, guard. The -n is the relative suffix "who watches
over". Roma means 'year' in the sense of 'the cycling year'
2nd line comments:
give- polite imperative / light / to-me, go-causative / safely /
know-not-ness - allative
astuan: the -an is an adverbial suffix, though these (as in English) are
tending to disappear.
3rd line comments:
and / speak-back / he / go-imperative / darkness-allative, and /
put-imperative / hand-your / hand-locative / god-genitive
maraito (Lit. great father) = god
4th line comments:
better (than) / light / (it) is, and / safer (than) / familiar / road / is.
eleta is the comparative degree of el = good. Omeina has seven degrees of
comparison of adjectives, not including however the equative degree (as good
as...) which is realised by an essive case construction.
