In Italian, suffixed adjectives are restrictive, but prefixed adjectives are not: "una commedia moderna" is some modern comedy or other, but "la commedia divina" would suggest some other Divine Comedy than Dante's. -- John Cowan cowan@ccil.org "You need a change: try Canada" "You need a change: try China" --fortune cookies opened by a couple that I know
