Hmm. I'm still not used to Chicago winters -- especially the weeks
on end when the high temperature doesn't exceed 20F (-7C). Incidentally,
Houston just had its first White Christmas since consistent weather
records started to be kept 150-someodd years ago. Of course, the snow
had all melted by 10 AM.

Totally agree :). Even the native Chicagoans I meet sympathize
when I express amazement that they are capable of maintaining
such a high level of civilization in such a barbarous environment.

Agreed! I particularly dislike when it gets just warm enough to become
slush.
