Presumably the singular of Crebain was *Craban (PE *Crabani, thus by
i-affection to crebain) though the /krb/ skeleton does kind of hearken back
to Corvus, Korax - or indeed Carc from The Hobbit.

crebain (plural of carban? corban? anyone?), on the Elfling list, see if
anyone over there knows. I can't find it in the Etymologies.
