Actually, we've been talking about 'fillet', e.g. the McDonalds burger
Fillet-o-Fish.

The definitions in question (and the only ones I know or would use) are:
a. A strip or compact piece of boneless meat or fish, especially the
beef tenderloin.
b. A boneless strip of meat rolled and tied, as for roasting.

It says you can spell it 'filet' too, but I imagine that's either
specifically American or it's referring to it in things like 'filet
mignon'.
