Same with Los Angeles, where you'd think they'd know better. Figueroa
Ave. is /fI.gr\=.'o.@/ and San Pedro isw /s&n 'pi.dr\o/. Even the native
Spanish speakers in the area pronounce those place names like that, even
though they'd never pronounce the name "Pedro" as /'pi.dr\o/.
