It's probably best to remind people that "Yank(ee)" is exonymous:
the vast majority of Americans would not consider themselves
Yankees (much less "Yanks", which sounds slightly obscene). The only
unquestionably true Yankees, of course, are those who eat apple pie
for breakfast, and that only in Vermont.
