Actually, at least in Finnish and Estonian, it's called *essive*. Translative is the same but dynamic, i.e. "becoming X." (But of course you are right in that Finnish and probably Estonian would use *translative* in "we want him for our father," since the person in question is not yet the speakers' father.)
