Ahaha, personally, I can't keep my hands off of pens and pencils.
I get away with it, though, because I'm an artist...however, people
tend to act like you need to be committed if you have more than
10 writing utensils on you at a time. What gives? Little teenage
girls love pens! I guess boring calligraphy and brush pens
just aren't cool and exciting enough. :|
That reminds me though, has anyone made an alphabet or what
have you meant to be written with a brush pen, or calligraphically?
(I like calligraphy. I suck at it, but I enjoy it immensely.)
On the subject of conlangs, though people seem to be more
impressed if you have something finished and nice looking than
if you actually have to WORK on it. I say this because people
are always asking me what language I'm writing in when I write
tiri'n or tengwar, but if you so much as mention something like
esperanto, they roll their eyes and exasperatedly breathe,
"That's crazy! What a waste of time!"
