Let me again recommend Mozilla Thunderbird. It's free for Windows and
handles IMAP correctly and isn't a security nightmare. I haven't used it
enough to verify that it doesn't crash frequently, though.

Yeah, I became disenchanted with Eudora long ago because they kept spending
development effort on "improvements" that I didn't care about while not
working on standards compliance, which I did very much care about.
