i think i started conlanging in year 10 ( ooh let's
all talk education systems noone else can understand )
and was certainly doing it by the time i got to my
gcses. i was also trying to learn sanskrt but that
never got particularly far ( teach yourself sanskrit
is very thoro but more of a reference grammar than a
useful course. i don't dislike reference grammars, but
it's annoying to have a course that says 'before you
start this chapter you should learn the paradigms for
all 24 types of sanskrit noun in all cases and
numbers' ... yeah, cheers mate !
anyway, can't remember much of those languages ( there
were two, one was very cvcvc and had a cirth-like
writing system, the other never got much further than
an alpha-syllabary. neither had a name. i did use the
first in a short story we had to write in our english
class, but there were only a couple of phrases in it.
i have a feeling i've now chucked it away, tant pis.
bn ( now the ripe old age of 23 going on 24 )
