Possibly they reflect the same root (? hj ?), but surely two different
vocalizations?
Come to think of it, _hoja_  (and in _hojatulislam_) might mean guardian?
Sorry-- my Arabic vocabulary is limited to loanwords in Spanish and
Indonesian.
