I listened to sound files at http://alt-usage-english.org/ipa/ascii_ipa_combined.shtml#sound. My /U/ is slightly less rounded than the sample, which is London only. My /V/ is midway between the London and the Lausanne samples. My /@/ is like the Lausanne sample, not so much the London sample. Very interesting! --L
