Tropical storms which cast for months! Apart from the "tropical" bit, sounds
just like Britain (or Mars).
Looks like the term you're after is aphelion (opposite to perihelion in
fact) though to be pedantic, this means "farthest point from the Sun" -
i.e., Earth's Sun. Maybe you could call it apastron, this is the
astronomical term - but strictly it refers to one member of a double star
system. I'd stick with aphelion if I were you!
