Well, my coniverse (nice word) was originally called the Olaetian Universe, which is pretty much the same problem, although at the time Olaetian _was_ a sort of interplanetary lingua franca (a role later filled by Deverrin). Since then the name has changed twice -- first to Kolagia (from the Kolagian Library, which means "Universal Library", thus the name would really mean "Universal Universe", which is why I changed it again) -- and then to Azir. As far as I know, "Azir" doesn't mean anything. But the Tirelhat word for Azir is "Zhulirev", which means "purple world". The origin of this name is that I started using a purple folder to hold information about the world -- things from the old Kolagian universe that I wanted to keep (none of my old folders were purple). Currently, though, I'm thinking of it in a metaphorical sense, with "zhuli" being a color associated with the world of dreams and myth that borders on Azir. (The exact shade of purple represented by "zhuli", and the other basic Tirelat color words, can be seen on the chart at http://www.io.com/~hmiller/png/tirelhat-colors.png .) -- languages of Azir------> ---<http://www.io.com/~hmiller/lang/index.html>--- hmiller (Herman Miller) "If all Printers were determin'd not to print any @io.com email password: thing till they were sure it would offend no body, \ "Subject: teamouse" / there would be very little printed." -Ben Franklin
