Interesting. As a gay man, I find myself wondering the same about the
attention paid the men who play Picard, Legolas, Angel, Wesley, Xander and
several others. Dominic Purcell (John Doe) and Russell Crowe are two of the
exceeding rare examples of men without facial hair whom I find "hot". My
taste usually runs to masculine stocky hairsuited men, though Sean Connery
has love been a fantasy of mine.

So, you are saying that the "hot babe" lesbians you know also like only
other "hot babes"?
In the USA, there was a saying: Opposites attract, likes marry.
My soul-mate (9 year relationship) was almost my double - outlook, careers,
interests, phenotype. My current partner (9 years) is almost my opposite.
The only similarities between them were intelligence, haircolour, facial
hair, and race.
