Ah, but they aren't used as the name of the station! That is: they
never say it on the air (if they have one), and non-radio people never
use it to refer to the station. I almost wound up with a callsign
myself, dabbled in ham radio until the Evil that is the Internet (and
my computer club) pretty much took over my life for a couple of years.
