Fair enough. The county system, after all, was imposed on Wales after its
conquest (call it what you will, a spade is a spade), rather than being an
organic growth as in England and (AFAIK) Scotland. Naturally it will tend
to compete with the pre-English system as well as the post-1974 muddle.
