regarded as a higher class."

I am an occasional reader of the "World Weekly News," something I
inherited from my grandmother, who (I kid you not) insists upon calling them
"The Papers" (don't give me that look - the "World Weekly News" has the
sixth largest circulation in the world!). The WWN is the only such
periodical which has earned this title; all the other low-brow periodicals
("The Sun," "The Enquirer," et al.) are classified as "Scandal Sheets."

If you're not familiar with the World Weekly News, they are the ones who
publish all kinds of informative articles on topics ranging from "Amazing
Secrets - FROM THE BIBLE," to "Millennial Prophecies - FROM THE BIBLE," as
well as "Astounding Dieting Tips - FROM THE BIBLE," and of course,
obligatory, run-o'-the-mill subjects such as "Dating Secrets the Government
Doesn't Want You to Know!" and "Mutant Carrot Grown with Three Heads!"

I am constantly amused by the fact that every article in the WWN
references an "Expert" of some kind - be it "Bible Expert," or "Physics
Expert," or "History Expert." As a child, I imagined "The Experts" on the
staff of the World Weekly News to be a highly-prestigious group of
illuminati, wielding total omniscience on all manner of arcane subjects, and
culled from the greatest universities and training grounds on the globe. In
short, something like "The Judges" on the popular American TV show
"Jeopardy."
I still aspire to be one of The Experts on the staff of the World Weekly
News - it may be the only way to make money from a degree in Semitic
Philology (and hey, if Robert H. does major in Linguistics and finds himself
looking for a job, I'm sure that there's a need for a "Linguistics Expert"
over at the WWN...).
