Yes. I believe most, but not all languages have at least an "r" or an
"l" sound, and there are quite a few with "l" but not "r". I believe
Hawaiian is an example. In languages with both "r" and "l" sounds, the
two often merge into one or the other. And I'm quite sure there are
languages with neither "r" nor "l", but don't know what off the top of
my head.
