They are, indeed! I went to university in Aberdeen, where the usual
greeting is "Fit lyke?" (lit. "what like", i.e. "how", i.e. "how are
you"). Likewise, "faa" is "who?" (I once overheard a conversation in
which one person told another he had to attend a funeral, to which the
reply was "Aye? Faa's deid?") , "faar" is "where", and "fit wye" ("what
way") is "how". I rather miss hearing people talk like that, actually!
