Re: CHAT: Prayer Versions

The Lord's Prayer and lithurgy in general seem to be a
sensitive spot when it comes to change. Here Catholics
still have to listen to traditional Spanish sometimes.
The newer holy books use Latin American 'neutral' Spanish,
but in many churches they still read in European Spanish,
with _vosotros_ and _vuestro_ and _os_ and such things.

Some conservative priests don't like this to be changed,
and if someone addresses Christ using _vos_ (informal
2nd person) instead of _t=FA_ (informal 2nd person, but
not traditional) they look at them as if they'd uttered
some terrible blasphemy.

OTOH we don't hear any more Latin or Greek, and this has
been like that since a long time ago (before I was born,
at least).

I don't know what the local Orthodox Church does, though.
The catholics here seem to prefer to know what they're
singing/praying -- no Latin, except, notably, they still
sing 'Salve Regina' sometimes...

As for the Lord's Prayer, there were a couple changes some
years ago. It went _perd=F3nanos nuestras deudas_ 'forgive us
our debts' and now it says _nuestras ofensas_ 'our offences'.
Plus it changed _mas_ to _pero_ (both mean 'but', but _mas_
is very very rare), and some word orders were changed too.
