It is, as much or more so as Switzerland. Also, I count on a certain
degree of 'otherness' intervening. I have read accounts of chimps
and gorillas feeding among one another, but totalling ignoring each
other. I have often wondered if this wasn't a factor for the archaic
Homo sapiens and Neandertals who coexisted in the Levant. In any
case, I have it happen to a degree with H. intelligens and H. sapiens.
snip, snip lots of interesting stuff about Boreanesia and early
European contact.
I have Spanish, Dutch, and French contact early on as well although
Magellan missed Nowapan. The Spanish were later intent on colonization
but by then, the Nowans had gotten guns from the Japanese, and unlike
the latter, they kept them. The Spanish decided to trade goods instead
of conquest.
