'surrender' (Muslim ~Moslem? and the proper name Salim?)

In the Indo./Arab. expression 'alhamdulillah' (approx. "God bless you") I
assume h-m-d means 'bless(ed)'-- thus the proper names Muhammad and Hamid ?
