Spanish uses _a_ for personal objects, e.g., _Veo a Mari'a_, but not for inanimate objects, _Veo la plaza_. I'm thinking it's more just a generalization of the Spanish _a_. -- "In a cat's eye, all things belong to cats." --English proverb http://members.tripod.com/~Nik_Taylor/X-Files/ ICQ #: 18656696 AIM screen-name: NikTailor
