Been suggested before and not implemented; it is feared that doing so
will kill the list. (The example of langmaker2 and langmakercafe is
brought up, saying that when the latter was created, the former became
much quieter, but that split predates my conlanging so I couldn't say.)
If anything, I reckon it'd be a better idea to merge the workshops back
into the main list again, in the hope that on-topic traffic that's
often directed for preference to these lists would drown out the
off-topic traffic (as Yitzik's shown, they aren't so busy that we'd
keep hitting the 100 p/d quota, though some people might reach the 5
p/dp quota quicker.
I think we just all have to remember to mark OT threads as OT.
