I had a choice of two last summer and opted for the Routledge Dutch
Dictionary (Dutch-English and English-Dutch) compiled by Fernand G.
Renier (ISBN 0-415-04610-6 ). With entries like "wereldbeschouwing"
and "zo dof als een kwartel" (though I've never particularly thought
of "kwartels" as "dof", but I digress), I suspect it will meet most
of my Nederlands needs in the years ahead, unless I decide to write
my two thoroughly groundbreaking dissertations on plate tectonics and
laser neurosurgery in Dutch (hey, it could happen). Seemed a bit more
academic and a little less so-you're-going-the-Hague-this-summer in
its approach than the other edition I was perusing (whose name I've
forgotten). And I believe I got it in a Barnes & Noble or a Borders
up in mid-New Hampshire, so it ought not be that hard to find.
Veel succes!
