Weekday nights, after march 14th... until then I will be busy with town
council elections etc. But is your Jan okay with having us over? I really
enjoyed his cooking last time, but I don't want us to impose ourselves
(especially knwoign the trouble he wenty through last time, with all the
doors being taken from their frames and such).

Probably something similar to me: gymnasium. I had German, English and
French, as well as Latin and ancient Greek. My English is fluent, my German
a little worn down, but I am still comfortable making conversation. As far
as French and Latin are concerned, I can read most stuff written in them, I
can understand simple spoken french and make very simple conversation (my
main problem with French is lacking active vocab). As for Greek... well, I
can recognize a score of words, and many grammatical forms and such, but I
would need a dictionary to do actual translations. When I think back of all
the Homer and Herodote translation I had to make...
I learned a little Spanish a few years ago, and have read/learnt some
grammatical stuff from Japanese, Gaelic, Swedish, Danish, Vietnamese and
Chinese (just enough to distinguish it from other languages). Oh, and I once
tried my hand ar Esperanto, but it was too regular for my taste.
Well, enough about language education in Dutch schools.
Maarten
P.S.
To be totally honest, I studied Spanish while living in the USA.
