Well, my *first* preference would be that we steer clear of "Dugga" (/dVg@/?!), which fares only marginally better than the dreaded "Dougy". :) I like the couple of sentences approach you propose. When I was in a really disciplined mode a few years back, I translated the first paragraph of a newspaper article everyday, which really helped boost vocabulary ( 'course, the Taiwan dailies were only 20-odd pages a day; trolling the Boston Globe for something of interest and brevity is trickier). And of course a grammatical flourish to chew on is always welcome. Seems the Gray Wizard tried something like this a while back, but it was sometimes difficult for me to keep the momentum going even though I was interested. I'm willing to try again, though. Kou
