You mean short /o/, don't you? Quite apart from your usual hesitancy to afford
phonemic status to vowel length, the vowel certainly is short ([O], normally),
and whichever way you phonematicize the difference it's a minimal pair with
_trål_ [tro:l].
(That's loose transcription again, btw - going down to [t_d_hr`o:l] brings in
other 'lectal differences, as well as being extremely ugly.)
