The spelling _Trållen_ looks quite funny. Although "Standard Swedish" has /o:/ for _o_ in _troll_ most dialects have /3\/ -- a phoneme that for some reason was excised from "Standard Swedish" -- corresponding to Old Scandinavian short /o/. I'm of course quite partial to [3\], since it is quite ubiquitous in my lect, all unstressed vowels tending towards it, just as they tend towards [@] in English, although the tendency is not (yet) as pronounced in my form of Swedish. /BP 8^) -- B.Philip Jonsson mailto:melrochX@melroch.se (delete X) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~__ A h-ammen ledin i phith! \ \ __ ____ ____ _____________ ____ __ __ __ / / \ \/___ \\__ \ /___ _____/\ \\__ \\ \ \ \\ \ / / / / / / / \ / /Melroch\ \_/ // / / // / / / / /___/ /_ / /\ \ / /'Aestan ~\_ // /__/ // /__/ / /_________//_/ \_\/ /Eowine __ / / \___/\_\\___/\_\ Gwaedhvenn Angeliniel\ \______/ /a/ /_h-adar Merthol naun ~~~~~~~~~Kuinondil~~~\________/~~\__/~~~Noolendur~~~~~~ || Lenda lenda pellalenda pellatellenda kuivie aiya! || "A coincidence, as we say in Middle-Earth" (JRR Tolkien)
