My daughter's secondary school teachers, as did mine, want double-spaced even in typed documents, to allow plenty of room for comments/corrections. And at least one of them objects strongly to double-sided writing (which I understand, given the low quality of most handwriting paper) and even printing (probably because he has no habit of turning the page when reading student work).
