And I wondered why I cannot identify it with any Orthodox prayer!
Interestingly, it seems that in the East the prayer has been
independently extended. Unfortunately, I don't know the Greek text
currently in use, only the Church Slavonic one. (Maybe Irina knows?)
Or maybe it's a different prayer? I'd render its beginning in Latin
as "Deigenetrix virgo, gaude..." - do Catholics have anything
similar?
The Greek texts of Hail Mary at http://www.christusrex.org seem to be
re-translated from Latin.
