But it's only a phonetic matter here, like in French the use of |l'| instead of
|le| or |la| in front of words beginning with a vowel. In Spanish, feminine
words beginning with a stressed 'a' take *for phonetic reasons only* the
article |el| instead of |la| (this |el| is to me more comparable to French |l'|
than to the masculine article |el|). So if you put an adjective in front of
|agua|, you get back the original article |la| (can't find an example right now
because it's rare in Spanish to put an adjective in front of a noun).

Of course, in your Arabo-Romance language, you can always have an invariable
article, from Arabic influence (in my Arabo-Romance project, the article is |il-
|, and like in Arabic it behaves like a prefix. It even has assimilation like
in Arabic with solar consonants!).

I'm still wondering how to evolve Latine phonology into something more Semitic-
like for my Arabo-Romance language. The ideas are still distillating in my
brains, but I'm pretty sure to manage getting a Romance language with both
Semitic phonology and morphophonology! :)) One way I've found is to simplify
Latin initial consonant clusters, some by inserting a vowel, but others by
transforming them into emphatics (details not yet known ;))) ).
